Erado: Metadata Remover

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Erado shows the hidden information in your photos and videos, such as where and when they were taken and which phone took them, and makes clean copies without it. It is made by SGWNI, a one-person app studio (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes.

In short

  • Your photos and videos are checked and cleaned on your iPhone and never uploaded. I have no servers that could receive them.
  • Erado only sees the items you pick, and your originals are never changed.
  • To show a place name and map, the coordinates of the photo you open are looked up with Apple Maps. The photo itself is not sent.
  • Erado records anonymous counts of how the app is used, through TelemetryDeck. These never include your photos, their details, locations or file names.
  • Erado Pro is bought through Apple. No one else is involved in purchases.
  • There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking across apps. Nothing is sold.

Your Photos and Videos

  • You choose photos and videos with Apple’s photo picker. Erado receives only the items you choose, never your whole library, and doesn’t ask for permission to read your library.
  • Erado reads each item’s metadata on your device to show you what it contains. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Clean copies are written to the app’s temporary storage on your device. They are deleted when you finish, and any left over are deleted the next time you open Erado.
  • If you save copies to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add photos. Erado can only add new items with that permission. It can’t read, change or delete anything already in your library.
  • When you share a copy, it goes only where you send it, through the iOS share sheet.

Maps and Place Names

When you open a photo or video that has a location, Erado shows it on a map and looks up the nearest place name using Apple’s MapKit. To do this, the coordinates are sent to Apple. The photo and its other details are not. Apple’s handling of this is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Usage Data

Erado uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the app is used so it can be improved. It records simple events such as:

  • the app being opened and the welcome screen being completed
  • how many items were checked, how many were videos and how many had a location
  • an item’s details being opened
  • how many clean copies were made, and whether they were shared, saved to Photos or exported to Files
  • the Erado Pro screen being shown or closed, and whether a purchase or restore went through

Each event also carries basic technical information, such as the app version, the iOS version, the device model and your region. Events never include your photos or videos, their metadata, locations, file names or anything you could be identified by. TelemetryDeck replaces your device identifier with an anonymised one before storing anything and doesn’t store IP addresses, so I can’t identify you or link this information to you. See TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy. The events stop if you delete the app.

Purchases

Erado Pro is a one-time purchase made through Apple. I never see your payment details.

Erado checks whether you have Erado Pro with Apple’s StoreKit, on your device. No other service receives your purchase information.

Stored on Your Device

Erado keeps a few settings on your device: whether you’ve seen the welcome screen, how many of your free clean copies you’ve used, and whether you have Erado Pro, so it works offline. Deleting the app removes them.

What Erado Doesn’t Do

  • No accounts or sign-in.
  • No advertising.
  • No tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No selling or sharing of data with data brokers.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, including under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to ask what information is held about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. I hold no information that identifies you from the app. Usage events are anonymous and can’t be traced back to you; purchase records are kept by Apple. If you email me, I keep your message only as long as needed to answer it.

Children

Erado does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
